This original trio may very well mean the most to me. It’s spiritual. It’s ancestral. It’s truth.

The acrylic powder in this set is numbered 1865, to honor the moment slavery was abolished — a powerful reminder of our strength, our survival, and our legacy.

This color represents freedom, resilience, and the beauty of being Black.

I used this deep, melanin-rich brown on Jennifer Hudson when she sang for the Pope in New York, and on so many other iconic artists who carry our culture forward.
